Clarity Aloft Link Headset

Product Description

Special Offer: Marv gives you an EXTRA set of Standard-Sized Comply Tips - FREE!

The Clarity Aloft Link Headset is the most feature-rich headset that Aloft Technologies makes! They took their unique and popular Clarity Aloft Headset and paired it with a special version of the Pilot USA Blulink Bluetooth Headset Adapter. They have specially tailored the Digital Signal Processing in the Blulink to the Clarity Aloft’s mic and electronics so you can wirelessly connect to multiple Bluetooth devices for phone calls, music, and more. This specially-tailored Digital Signal Processing gives it the clearest sound available today, and enables you to link 2 devices simultaneously.

The digital signal processing is so advanced in this unit that listeners will not be able to hear the engine roar in the background while the pilot communicates to either ATC or when notifying family and friends of an impending arrival.

All your favorite aspects of the original Clarity Aloft are still here and they’ve added great new features. The Link lets you wirelessly connect your phone and any Bluetooth enabled media device simultaneously and here’s just a sampling of what you can do:

  • Bring your most used tool into the cockpit – your phone can be as indispensible in the air as it is on the ground.
  • Enjoy music and movies on your iPod or iPad – clear and powerful sound will have you experiencing them like you never could in an airplane before.
  • Connect to more than one device - you don't have to choose between your phone and your other devices, giving you the best functionality.
  • Seamlessly transition from music to a call – the optional autofade will bring down the volume when calls from the radio or phone come in.
  • Independently adjust the volume - dual controls allow you to set your cockpit radio volume and the volume from your phone and devices separately at exactly your preferred level.
  • Connect with just the sound of your voice - use your smartphone’s voice-activated dialing feature to let loved ones know when you’ll be landing.

What’s New:

  • Wireless Bluetooth Pairing
The BluLink unit pairs both a mobile phone and any other Bluetooth equipped media device simultaneously. Once paired, the BluLink unit finds the device or devices anytime they are within range and have their Bluetooth functions on.
  • Digital Signal Processing
The BluLink digital signal processing (DSP) has been specifically tailored to the microphone of the headset, giving it crystal clear sound in the most demanding aviation environments. Phone calls sound just as good as if not better than when you use your mobile phone in daily life.
  • Intuitive Phone and Music Controls
Calls can be dialed, answered, placed on hold and ended easily on the BluLink. Volume controls for calls and music are very straightforward, as are the track controls. If you’ve used any modern music player before, you know how to operate the BluLink.

Each Clarity Aloft Link Headset comes with:

  • Semi-rigid case with black ballistic nylon in a packable size.
  • 6 month supply of Comply Canal™ Tips (6 pairs of Standard Size, 1 Pair of Slim, 1 Pair of Extra Large)!
  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • 3-year manufacturer's warranty
  • 2 AA batteries

The Clarity Aloft headsets employ patented Comply™ Canal Tips, composed of soft viscoelastic foam, the same foam tips used in advanced hearing aids. More than simple earplugs, these foam tips provide full spectrum noise reduction: 35-45dB of attenuation. This advanced technology has been lab tested to prove that viscoelastic passive noise reduction (VPNR) is superior to active noise reduction (ANR), especially in the speech frequencies, precisely where clarity of sound and hearing protection is most needed for aviation communications.

Clarity Aloft Link Features and benefits:

  • Built to be rugged with professional Flight Instructors and Aviation Professionals in mind
  • Clarity of sound that is unsurpassed
  • Lightweight, cool and comfortable
  • Hygienic replaceable foam tips, compliant to each individual ear
  • High quality components tested to military specifications
  • Professional grade microphone
  • Integrated, specially-tailored Pilot BluLink Bluetooth Adapter

The Earpieces
The Clarity Aloft earpieces are used to improve both hearing protection and speech communications. Each earpiece includes a miniature speaker that reproduces speech signals from the aircraft audio system. The replaceable compliant foam tips (Comply™ Canal Tips) which attach to the earpiece contain a pathway for the sound to travel from the transducer to the ear. Used by the military for helicopter pilots, both components of the earpiece, the transducer and Comply Canal Tips, have been tested, used rigorously and meet the most exacting military standards.

Replaceable Foam Tips included
The superior seal is achieved with the patented Comply™ Canal Tips, which are used in high-end hearing aids. These viscoelastic foam tips provide the highest level of hearing protection available by any method including active noise reduction (ANR). The outstanding noise reduction (35-45dB) in the speech frequencies between 400 to 4,000 Hz results in unsurpassed clarity of voice communications. Resembling foam earplugs, the foam tips are so comfortable because they are compliant to the shape of the ear. Considerable sound science history backs up their impressive performance. Technical specifications on our viscoelastic passive noise reduction (VPNR) are included in the Owner’s Guide.

The Noise-Canceling Microphone
The noise-canceling microphone used in the Clarity Aloft Headset is a high fidelity noise canceling Electret Condenser microphone with performance optimized for speech frequencies in extremely high noise environments. Stage performers and musicians use this same microphone because they must insist on the highest level of sound reproduction.

Dual Electret Microphone
Mic Elements face 180 degrees apart: one faces forward, one faces the mouth. Sound that enters both elements is cancelled. Sound that enters the mouth side mic is amplified.

Low-Profile Headband
With its flexible boom arm, this featherweight band is the same one sported by stage musicians and professional performers the world over. Balance and comfort are the result of its elegantly simple design. The mic boom can be easily re-positioned for eating and drinking during flight without disturbing your earpieces.

Not worth the cost
  • It is not a bad headset, but it is not worth the cost. It is light weight, but the halo rubs the top of your ears. The earbuds are comfortable and sound quality is good. Music and phone are not nearly the quality as Bose. The controls for Bluetooth are third party and clunky. The volume control for the headset looks straight out of radio shack. This would be a great headset at 350 to 400 price point. Not worth 750 or even close to it. Used in mid sized corporate jets.
  • Pros: Not a bad headset
  • Cons: Not worth the money or even close to it.

Brilliant clarity.
  • Wore the Clarity Aloft Link 1st time today in a Light Sport aircraft. After wearing the flying school's average level DCs for the past 5 months the CA was amazing. Surprisingly quiet. Clear sounds from the radio and my Instructor, with enough external sound to know what the engine is doing, the air over the wings etc.. I didn't feel disconnected, but the audible sound was perfectly relevant to my flying. Uncanny, and brilliant. The ear buds are superbly comfortable too, once inserted. Not cheap, but long term I suspect a brilliant buy. Highly impressed 1st time out.
  • Pros: Light weight (can't feel them on)Superbly comfortable around neck and in ears (ditto)Excellent sound qualityEasy to change
  • Cons: Price - expensive for the amount of 'material'I suspect not robust like 'cup' headsets (vulnerable?)Ear buds need care to no

  • Student pilot getting ready for Check ride so not as experienced as others here but will share my thoughts and hope they help:

My flight school has a variety of different headsets to borrow including DC, Bose and Lightspeed. I've tried them all. DCs are rugged with decent passive NR. Lightspeed is most comfortable with good ANR, Bose is less comfortable if you have big ears like me, but definitely offers the best sound quality.

I have a big head so after about three hours XC all of the headsets feel like a clamping vise. Wanted to try something different and read a lot of reviews before deciding to try the Clarity Aloft. Figured with Marv's great return policy I would just send me back if they were not perfect.

Well after about 10 hours using the Clarity Aloft Link, they will definitely not be going back. It took a bit of fiddling to get them adjusted to my head but now they are so comfortable I forget I am wearing a headset. Ball caps and sunglasses don't get in the way anymore and the in ear tips are very comfortable once you get used to inserting them properly.

These are passive NR, and honestly they are not as quiet as the Bose or Lightspeed ANR sets with fresh batteries. Yet they are quieter than the passive DC's and the others with ANR turned off. Quiet enough for a loud piston single for sure. Get some high quality ear plugs from a shooting range and try them in your plane, that's about the noise reduction you can expect.

I feel like I made the right decision, that these will last me for many years of comfortable use. Ordering from Marv Golden was a good choice as well, the shipping was lightning fast and the free extra tips are helpful. I couldn't find the same product anywhere else for less and a lot of other stores don't carry the stock that Marv does ready to ship.

Consider me a very happy customer with this purchase and I encourage you to try them for yourself!

  • Pros: Lightweight, durable, comfortable, different tips for custom fit, Bluetooth link works great. Good carrying case.
  • Cons: Expensive for passive NR, a bit difficult to learn how to fit at first
  • I purchased this unit from Marv Golden. Marvin, as always was very accommodating and helpful. I received the unit the next day after ordering.
Problem 1 Bluelink required some fooling with to get it to turn on first time.
I found the cables or wiring very cumbersome. The volume control is too close to the jack plugs so it is hard to hang it out of the way. The Blulelink is more Bluky than Lightspeed or Bose. You have to remove the battery cover in order to change settings for the muting of the music or not. Bluelink is just an after market device added in line. This unit has "dicey" reviews online.
This headset is very nice to wear and I like it. But, it is basically a cheap headset with a volume control. The screw on mounts are cheap and fragile. they should be made of metal to prevent striping. After contacting ClarityAloft Support I was left cold. They did not listen to what I was requesting. They only repeated that they heard exactly opposite from other pilots what I was requesting. Very defensive and distant. This unit is clearly over priced a as compared to quality units such as Lightspeed and Bose.

I would not invest in any of their products beyond the basic unit (still overpriced). The headset is nice to wear and works well. Soon as it is upgraded it will be worth buying.
Amazing and comfortable
  • I'm in the military and do alot of flying. I have flown approximately 500 hours using the Lightspeed headsets. They worked well, but I get headaches alot from a previous accident I had, and the lightspeeds clamp down on the sides of my head increasing the frequencies of inflight headaches.

We have the option to use the Clarity Aloft headsets, so I started using those and they are amazing. I don't get headaches any more and I forget I'm even wearing them.

Although I have a clarity aloft headset provided to me, I bought my own personal set for my private pilot use.
