The Van Heusen Commander Shirt is a luxury shirt that mixes form and fashion.
Fused crisp collar, wrinkle-free 60% cotton 40% polyester Pinpoint Oxford. It comes with shoulder straps, two pockets with mock flaps for easy entry. Single-needle armhole, extra-long tuck-in tails. Fully-fused wrinkle- free construction.
The “Commander” comes with mock Flap Pockets: they look like they must be unbuttoned, but they are actually open at the top for easy entry. We carry other shirts with true Flap Pockets. See Related Items at right.

Optional Wingman Reinforcement Patch:
The Optional Wingman is a reinforcement patch designed specifically for pilot lapel wings or nametags. The Wingman has an iron-on backing that applies easily and strongly. It can be placed on the outside or inside of your shirt, and can be ironed-on or sewn-on! It is 3 inches wide by ½ inch tall.
Please note: if you order the optional Wingman, you will get one for each shirt. Example: order 3 shirts with optional Wingman and you will get 3 Wingmen. If you wish to order just one, please see the Wingman at right and order it separately!

- I like the pure white color, fabric and the open pockets. It's easy to slide an iPhone 6 into the right side and a pen and sunglasses on the left. Shirt tails are long enough to stay tucked in as well.
- I ordered 2 shirts in the same size I already use (16.5 34-35). When they arrived, I realized that they were huge! The label indicated the size I ordered, but the shirt itself is significantly bigger than my other shirts. Even after washing with hot water and drying.

- Very good quality product. I have been wearing the short sleeves Commander for a long while now. Decided to give the long sleeves model a try.

- Cons: Not so wrinkle resistant as advertised.
- I am NOT a pilot, but I do work where a white shirt and black tie are required.
I bought this shirt, and a neck tie here thinking that pilots would need both to be durable and I was right.
Aside from having epaulets (which I don't mind) they look like a dress shirt and wear like a work shirt.
The ONLY gripe I have is that while they dry wrinkle free using permanent press settings, they come out of the bag they arrive in with some pretty persistent wrinkles that require ironing to really remove.
Had it not been for that, I'd have given it 5 stars with no hesitation. - Bought these for years. Cotton content makes them more breathable and they're actually stain resistant. For me, that's a real plus.
