Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I use the Bluetooth Wireless Technology to talk on my phone and listen to music?
The Bluetooth feature allows you to make and receive phone calls as well as listen to your favorite music when paired with cell phones, MP3, tablets or other Bluetooth compatible devices.

  • When receiving or transmitting, music will mute. When transmission is completed music volume will gradually return to previously set level. Cell phone communications will not mute.
  • When using a Bluetooth® compatible device volume adjustment is done on the device itself not by the headset volume controls.
  • With Bluetooth® Wireless Technology no adapter cords are required with compatible devices.

What is the noise cancellation performance of DC ONE-X Series headsets?
The DC ONE-X Headset has passive attenuation and exceptional electronic noise cancellation (30 dB @ 150Hz) through the range of 20Hz-1KHz, for outstanding ANR performance.

Is the noise cancellation performance of DC ONE-X Series headsets (active) sufficient for use in my aircraft?
The DC ONE-X Series headsets have been verified through extensive flight testing in both turboprop and jet aircraft for General and Commercial Aviation applications.

What will happen if I lose battery power?
An important feature of the DC ONE-X Series is true "fail-safe" operation. No interruption of communication can result from failure of the ENC system or its power source. (Note: Cell Phone, Music and Auxiliary input devices will not operate without battery power).

How much does the DC ONE-X headset weigh?
The DC ONE-X weighs just 12.3 ounces.

Feature Details:

Hybrid ENC Technology
Provides best-in-class active noise reduction with leading-edge ‘feed-forward’ and ‘feed-back’ technology. External microphone on dome picks up noise from the outside, before reaching the ear canal for superior noise attenuation.

David Clark ONE X
  • Feels just as comfortable as my Bose A20. Noise canceling works great, tested in a single engine turbo prop. Just as quite as the A20. Mic boom a bit short, but I’m used to a bit longer one. Bluetooth worked great, and music sounded good. It’s easy to operate, and to switch between Bluetooth modes. The cord is longer than my A20, giving me more options on placing the control module in a convenient location. Other company pilots reported after landing that my voice sounded very clear over the frequency. I would be happy with this as my primary headset if my A20 dies. After all, this was a gift to a family member for passing their CFI!
  • Pros: Comfortable, noise canceling, longer chord, build quality.
  • Cons: None

David Clark DC One-X ANR
  • I needed a new headset that would last and be comfortable on long days in the cockpit. I previously had the Bose QC with Uflymic but after 2 years it started to short out, that is the reason for looking for a new headset. I considered the Bose aviation headset but looking closely at the David Clark I made that choice. The DC is more compact and seems a touch lighter. The performance is comparable in sound and ANR. I have had the DC for 2 weeks now an about 45 hours of flight time. Fits well and the quite ANR makes for less fatigue on the long days. The DC is also $200 less expensive than the Bose.
  • Pros: light weight quite
  • Cons: I would like the ANR unit to be smaller and a wire clip would be nice

Not bad but I returned them
  • The headset worked well for the time that I tried it, several flights, the bluetooth connected easily and I had no problems with the headset. Music sounded good. However I returned it because I felt that for $900.00 it just wasn't that much more comfortable than my passive David Clark's. I think the issue is that the space for your ear is just a little smaller than my ear and so having my ear touch the inside of the ear cup makes it seem just slightly uncomfortable. It was also not really that much quieter than the passive headset I have.
  • Pros: Everything worked great
  • Cons: Not that comfortable in my opinion

  • I used this headset during a 26 hour - 4 day trip. The DC One-X ANR headset is lighter and more compact than the Bose that I usually fly with. Unfortunately, the sound quality was not quite as good as the Bose A20.
  • Pros: Lighter and more compact than the Bose. Great bluetooth functionality.
  • Cons: Sound quality was less superior than the Bose.

DC One-X ANR headset
  • Another great product by David Clark. I have been putting off buying a ANR headset for a number of years, but when I started flying light aircraft again it became a necessity. Quality, fit and finish is all top notch.
  • Pros: Very comfortable. Love the bluetooth feature
  • Cons: cord from jacks to battery control unit could be a little longer

Great Headset
  • Was looking for a ANR with Bluetooth capability replacement for my older DC ANR headsets that still work well, but I didn't like the extra wires in the cockpit of my Cub to listen to some music, etc when traveling. These are very nicely built and COMFORTABLE. Typical DC quality. I think they've hit a home run with these. MG was easy ordering and fast free shipping. I'd do business with them any time.
  • Pros: Lightweight, comfortable,nice options
  • Cons: None

Excellent new headset from David Clark!
  • This is one of the best investments you can make! The first thing which surprised me was how compact the headset is when it's folded up. Excellent design and build quality, as to be expected from David Clark. The included bag is of equally good quality as well.

The next surprise is how comfortable and light the headset feels. The same compact geometry works extremely well in eliminating any pressure points, while the outlast head pad does exactly what it's advertised to; keep your head cool! Earseals are soft leatherette and do a great job conforming to your head, and seal well even wearing glasses.

The control box is of quality construction and feels very durable, and the included belt clip is a big plus. The buttons all have very satisfactory positive feedback, and the lights are very bright and colour coded to identify functions. They can also be shut off for night flying.

Comm quality is crystal-clear, and the mic does a brilliant job of eliminating background noise. Music quality is great as well; a bit lacking in bass, but more than adequate for a headset designed for aviation. The passive noise reduction is good, considering the headset doesn't clamp hard at all on the ears, and the ANR is at a level where you can hear the engine and mechanical noises clearly, yet reduced to a very appropriate amount (Dash 8 Q200, for reference).

All bluetooth functions work properly with no hassles. Calls can be answered, music can be played with both auto-muting for comms (which I should mention works brilliantly), or without muting as well.

As far as longevity, I have only had this headset for less than a month, but I would expect it to be on par with other David Clark models. Overall, an excellent headset which ticks all the boxes. I would recommend this to anyone buying a headset in this price range.
  • Pros: Build quality, compactness, comfort, audio clarity, bluetooth functionality, 5-year warranty from manufacturer, headset bag
  • Cons: The only two I can think of would be no aux input cable, and the stereo/mono switch and auto-shutoff toggles are under the batte

Clear and Light
  • The Biggest WOW on this headseat is how CLEAR the communications are. Both hearing, and the transmissions. My crew commented unsolicited how clear they could hear me. ATC transmissions were very clear as well. The second WOW is how nicely it folds up and how compact it is. This was my first Bluetooth headset and it's a great convenience both when making a call and for some quiet time in the cockpit for some music. I compared it to the Bose A20 and I like this headset better. It has every bit of quietness plus it's clearer and the design of the swivels are much stronger than the Bose.
  • Pros: Clarity, Compactness, strength
  • Cons: Can't put my ball cap on like with the Clarity Aloft, and more sweat than the Clarity Aloft I'm used to.

new David Clark's
  • Love these things! Great ANR headset and very clear both transmitting and receiving. Very comfortable, however living in the southwest I find the ear cuffs get hot after wearing an hour or so. Will invest in some covers from Oregon Aero which should relieve this minor annoyance.
  • Pros: Excellent clarity and comfortable
  • Cons: ear cuffs as stated above
