The Clarity Aloft headsets employ patented Comply™ Canal Tips, composed of soft viscoelastic foam, the same foam tips used in advanced hearing aids. More than simple earplugs, these foam tips provide full spectrum noise reduction: 35-45dB of attenuation. This advanced technology has been lab tested to prove that viscoelastic passive noise reduction (VPNR) is superior to active noise reduction (ANR), especially in the speech frequencies, precisely where clarity of sound and hearing protection is most needed for aviation communications.

The Earpieces
The Clarity Aloft earpieces are used to improve both hearing protection and speech communications. Each earpiece includes a miniature speaker that reproduces speech signals from the aircraft audio system. The replaceable compliant foam tips (Comply™ Canal Tips) which attach to the earpiece contain a pathway for the sound to travel from the transducer to the ear. Used by the military for helicopter pilots, both components of the earpiece, the transducer and Comply Canal Tips, have been tested, used rigorously and meet the most exacting military standards.

Replaceable Foam Tips included
The superior seal is achieved with the patented Comply™ Canal Tips, which are used in high-end hearing aids. These viscoelastic foam tips provide the highest level of hearing protection available by any method including active noise reduction (ANR). The outstanding noise reduction (35-45dB) in the speech frequencies between 400 to 4,000 Hz results in unsurpassed clarity of voice communications. Resembling foam earplugs, the foam tips are so comfortable because they are compliant to the shape of the ear. Considerable sound science history backs up their impressive performance. Technical specifications on our viscoelastic passive noise reduction (VPNR) are included in the Owner’s Guide.

The Noise-Canceling Microphone
The noise-canceling microphone used in the Clarity Aloft Headset is a high fidelity noise canceling Electret Condenser microphone with performance optimized for speech frequencies in extremely high noise environments. Stage performers and musicians use this same microphone because they must insist on the highest level of sound reproduction.

Dual Electret Microphone
Mic Elements face 180 degrees apart: one faces forward, one faces the mouth. Sound that enters both elements is cancelled. Sound that enters the mouth side mic is amplified.

Low-Profile Headband
With its flexible boom arm, this featherweight band is the same one sported by stage musicians and professional performers the world over. Balance and comfort are the result of its elegantly simple design. The mic boom can be easily re-positioned for eating and drinking during flight without disturbing your earpieces.

Music Input
The Clarity Aloft Headset is also equipped with a music input in the volume control box that will accommodate most music devices through a 1/8 inch plug. Be sure that the volume of the music device is set at minimum before connecting to the headset.

Clarity and pain Aloft
  • I'm unhappy with this product! Three things....1) I wear a headset for 4 to 6 hours a day with the airline flying that i do. I've always worn full ear muff noise cancelling sets. The last set which I liked and had lasted 6 years developed a short in the mike lead. I thought I would try these out. The headset is lightweight but the wire squeezes the spot right at the top of your ears....after several hours of this, it flat out hurt. Some little foamy pad right there would help...I'm going to try and doctor it up myself. 2) The earbuds are not secured to the headset well. I lost an earbud right away in the cockpit...thought it might be me. Caught the next one as it fell off...hmmmm The next time. as i pulled the bud from my ear after the flight, the wire came out but the earbud remained in my ear....the more I tried to get it out. the deeper it went in....good lord! Finally twisted the speaker insert back into the bud while it was in my ear and gradually eased it out. I think that's a big issue!
    3) Somehow I thought these were noise cancelling,,,certainly the price reflects that level of sophistication. They are not....earplugs with speakers inside....why so expensive for old technology ????? At their best...they worked as advertised....very clear audio and good mic response. At their worst they are overpriced, painful, and need some design tweaking!
  • Pros: Clear audio, nice mic
  • Cons: Overpriced, painful for longer use, earbud design is poor
Great product and service!!
  • Always provides excellent product - customer service is the best!! love it.

amazing headset
  • I am flying on Boeing 737 NG and I must say that this headset does its job perfectly. The noise reduction is better than I expected and sound quality is perfect. Sometimes intercom is a bit quiet and I have trouble hearing my copilot, therefore the audio selector is usually turned up to the maximum value. Every now and then I have to re-adjust the rim of the headset, as the grip around my head is a bit tight, but this is almost negligible compared to the superior quality of the headset. Would definitely recommend to any fellow aviator.
  • Pros: lightweight, noise cancelling, sound quality, no batteries required.
  • Cons: almost none.

3rd time is a charm?
  • The Clarity A lot headset is far and away the best, most comfortable headset that I have had the pleasure to use / own. I have owned them all. I am a 737 Pilot flying for a major west coast carrier, and the headset works exceptionally well in the 37 environment. I wish I didn’t have to make this statement, but in the interest of those that will be considering a purchase of one, you should know the following.

    1. This is my 3rd Clarity Aloft headset in 12 years of use. My 1st was the original it lasted me 8 years. No complaints. It failed, I replaced it. The second was purchased directly from Clarity Aloft after sending my original in for repair. It was unrepairable, and the graciously offered my my second headset at a reduced cost. That headset just failed. It is outside of the warranty period and I chose not to go through Clarity Aloft for replacement. I just did not want to expend the time waiting on another replacement. So I just purchased my 3rd from Marv.

    2. The two headset failures were both identical failures. The point of failure was at the junction of the wire leading into the ear bud. First it was one ear and eventually the second ear, rendering the headset inop.

    3. While the headset has undergone some improvements to the main cord connections to the aircraft, and improvement to the headband housing. The ear bud wire is identical in appearance to my previous two headsets. If they have improved this portion of the headset, it is indecernable to me. I do expect that this headset will fail in the same spot, unfortunately.

    4. I have a total expense of $1915.00 into Clarity Aloft Headsets. $695 for the 1st Generation, + $495.00 for its replacement, + $725 for my third headset. This is a Lot of hard earned cash. I have eleven years left in my career and I know that I’ll be spending more cash on another headset, unfortunately. Yes, I consider the headset to be the most comfortable headset I have used to date, so I fork over the cash for the comfort.

    5. Clarity Aloft could easily “fix” the issue with the ear buds by simply using a more robust wire to ear bud interface, or they should acknowledge the issue and extend their warranty period on the headset. Three years just doesnt cut it. For the record. I have treated all the headsets with the utmost care. I do not twirl the ear buds while compressing the ear bud foam for insertion into my ears. I pinch the foam per the manufacturers instructions. The headset has Always been properly stowed in the Clarity Aloft case.

If you are considering this headset, and are still forking over cash to build your ratings, or are at the point in your career where replacing your headset every few years is Not financially in the budget. I’d look elsewhere. If you are willing to eat the expense, and want the most comfortable headset out there, then look no further than the Clarity Aloft.
  • Pros: Comfort, Sound quality
  • Cons: Extremely High Failure rate.

Great Headset
  • Been flying for over 3 decades. Always hated over the ear headsets and the mess it made to my hair, not to mention the discomfort. This does the trick. I fly for the airlines and have used it on the B737NG and the CRJ900.
  • Pros: Light, no headset head
  • Cons: Pricey. Have to get used to ear buds if you haven't used them

Superior Service and a Great Headset
  • I called Marv 2 days before my OE on the B737 was to begin. He and his team made sure I had the headset in hand before my first flight. I can't say enough about the excellent service I received, not to mention the free extras ($25 worth of ear pieces) that no one else offered.

The headset itself does all I need for noise suppression on the relatively noisy B737 flight deck. I'm familiar with the Comply earpieces from my Westone W60 earbuds, so there was no adaptation phase required to get use to these on the Clarity Pro Plus headset. Very comfortable and they do a great job suppressing the noise. The audio quality and microphone transmissions are top notch, as to be expected from a TSO'd product. The headset support piece took a little getting used to as it initially felt like the support on the right was pressing into my temple. But after having the headset on for a few hours, I didn't noticed it (it did leave an indentation in my chubby face that disappeared after a few minutes, those of you with Brad Pitt like cheekbones may not experience this).

Overall, I would highly recommend the Clarity Aloft Pro Plus Headset for professional use and really tell you to purchase them from Marv Golden. I had heard others wax poetic about the customer service at Marv's, I can now confirm this personally.
  • Pros: Light, comfortable, wearable for long periods, robustly built, TSO'd , Really Cool Looking with no messy hair
  • Cons: Initially a bit of pressure on the temple from the support.

Nice light weight headset
  • I switched from Bose to CA. I wanted a light weight headset for longer flights. I found the CA to be a good choice. I will say it has taken some time getting used to the different style. I also had to adjust the over the ear bend to be more comfortable. Overall I am happy with my purchase.
  • Pros: Light weight,Good noise reduction,
  • Cons: A little uncomfortable at first over the ears

    Clarity Aloft Pro Plus

This headset is so comfortable ! I have been using the Bose A20 for about 5 years (loved it) and started using this two weeks ago. I wore it for 9 hours yesterday and 9 hours the day before and couldn't tell I had a headset on. It is quiet! I do have to use the small ear plugs or my ears start to hurt but I have really small ear canals. I wear glasses and sun glasses and no problem with either pair. Very quiet and comfortable. I would highly recommend. Sound quality is great for voice and music that can be heard by linking to cell phone with a stereo mini jack. I wish they made it for the right side of the aircraft though. Not sure about durability yet but it seems well built except for really small wires to the ear plugs. I guess my son will be getting a Bose as a gift when he finishes his CFI
  • Pros: Great sound qualityQuietComfortable!
  • Cons: 1 No option for us on the right side of the aircraft. 2 Cord has to wrap around the back of your neck. 3 A little slow getti

Clarity Aloft Pro Plus
  • Having used several types of headsets over the years (Telex, Senheiser, Bose), these are not perfect, but pretty close to it.
Extremely light, don't mess up your hair, clear audio and mic in and out. Definitely recommend them!
There's a few minor details that could be improved, but still, best headsets I've ever used. Takes a couple of flights to get used to it, but after a week it all felt natural.
Noise reduction is great, flying the 737 which is a bit noisy, feels much better.
I wear glasses with them and have no issues, much better than the conventional type of headsets.

On another note, hats off for the excellent customer service from MarvGolden, specially Tyson, will recommend and buy again from this place!

by far the best !!
  • Having used all these year in commercial aviation multiple headsets ( from cheap ones to the most expensive ones ) i have to be very honest by saying that the clarity aloft pro plus are by far the best.
Excellent noise reduction, clarity on the quality of the hearing and transmission, lightweight, easy to fit on, etc etc.
Concerning the fitting on the head, i guess that depends on every individuals head size. Talking about myself, it fits perfectly without any irritations and hotspots.
All in all , its great! Highly recommended !

Good for the B777, would be a 4.7/5.0
  • The Clarity Aloft Pro is a great headset.
I regret not having bought these as my first pair years ago.
These are a very sophisticated, very modern day, very slim, very quiet, very "minority report" like headset.
As an airline pilot, who has to leave home for 4 to 12 days at a time. These headsets fit my description of being compact, easy to stow, light on the head, and not require batteries.
Also my company jets do not have hot mics therefore communicating with the other pilot can become difficult if they don't speak up.
The headsets have ear phones and not a over the headphones which allow more flexibility in keeping one plugged in your ear and the other not.
Also the headsets being compact/slim allow me to slip on my Oxygen mask without having to take off the headset completely. (if you're not too familiar with the mask, most likely you'll need to adjust mask a little bit)

As good as the headsets are, I have a couple of negative comments.
These hang on to your head kind of like backward sun glass stems. So if you have a larger than average head, the rims press down, right where your sunglass stems would be resting over your ears.
It can be a little bit painful. For me all I need to do is readjust them every couple hours or so.

    Over all, very impressed.

  • Pros: Slim/light/flexible/cool looking.
  • Cons: Can be a little tight around tops of your ears, where the headsets would rest.

Clarity Aloft Pro Plus
  • This is by far the best headset I have ever used. It's very comfortable and easy to use all day. It cuts the sound just enough. The tips are very soft and after 3 months the original tips still look good.

I prefer this over any, in-ear (earmold) on-ear or over the ear options have tried and it doesn't need batteries.

The only problem is the case is too thick (3.5") for most modern compact flight bags. You might want to use the Noral Small Headset Case since it is just 2' wide.
  • Pros: Audio Quality, Light
  • Cons: Case

Great Start
  • I've only experimented with the headset for a little while and I'm totally impressed. Noise reduction is fantastic, and they are tremendously comfortable. Especially for someone who wears earbuds all the time for his personal music.

I do worry about how thin the wires and have been thinking of ways to reinforce them before there's a problem. Beyond that they're great.

  • Pros: Exactly what I was looking for....comfortable, light, good sound, good Bluetooth connection.
  • Cons: Still seem pricy, give that there are similar modern headsets that sit on your neck, protect similar thin wires for the earbuds

Clarity Aloft Pro Plus
  • Overall, happy with my purchase. The headset is great. I read some questionable reviews about these headsets (they were flimsy, not durable, the wires were real thin and break easy) so it is safe to say I was nervous about buying them. I've used them now on about 3 trips and when people say you forget you have them on, it is true. I am coming from the light speed sierra (before flying 121) and generic DC's when flying 121. On a long day with 5+ hours in the cockpit, this headset is great. Other reviews I read where people said you forget you have them on is true. They are very light weight and when you have the ear buds in correctly, you forget your wearing a headset. The passive noise canceling is great in the plane i fly - Embraer 170, its not that loud, but then again it is not 'quiet' at altitude, so the passive noise cancelling works great for me.
  • Pros: light weight, mic on the pro plus is in front of the ear and most durable which is nice, noise canceling is great,
  • Cons: price, i have read reviews where the wires will break easily so i am just very careful with mine

  • Good that this is TSO compliant. To avoid damaging the mic wire, always store headset in case "upside-down" by putting the microphone in first so that it rests in the bottom of the case. When donning, check the earplugs are screwed in all the way. The most delicate parts are the dangling ear wires. Works good, lasts a long time.

Clarity Aloft Pro Plus
  • I've been using the Clarity Aloft Pro Plus for over a month of flying, and would highly recommend them. I switched from the Bose / UFly Mike setup, and prefer the Clarity Aloft. The only issue I've had is a minor "hot spot" in front of my ear at the end of a long day of flying. These are insignificant compared to the benefit of their light weight and battery failure of the Bose. There is a short period of getting used to putting them on and taking them off - especially if/when wearing glasses. Otherwise, I highly recommend them.
  • Pros: Light Weight, comfort, sound quality, noise reduction
  • Cons: Slight "hot spot" in front of my ears.

Good for airline use
  • I've flown with this headset now for about 6 weeks. Overall it is a big improvement over the head clamps I've been wearing for the past 25+ years. It took a few trips before figuring it out. First, the ear canal tips. I was using the standard size without getting the noise reduction I wanted. The large block out the noise better than any ANR or passive headset I've flown with. Try the different sized tips if it isn't comfortable or not giving you good noise blocking. The tips do take a couple of minutes to warm up, so re-adjust them if needed. Second, eating or drinking with the headset on is simple. Instead of bending the mic boom, simply rotate the rear of the headband down and the mic upwards. If you're wearing glasses, pull the temples of the headband away from your head and place them above your glasses while rotating the back of the headband down. The reason for not giving 5 stars is concern over the durability of the wires to the ear pieces. The wires are a bit thin. I'd rather they be better armored against accidental tugs, because things happen even when trying to be careful. And do be careful when zipping the case shut because an ear piece can hang outside the case and then the wire caught in the zipper. The main cord between the plugs and the headband is nice and sturdy. I would buy this headset again, and I'll never go back to an over the ear muff style headset.
  • Pros: Light weight, excellent audio quality, excellent noise blocking
  • Cons: Thin wires to ear pieces
Occupation / Rating:
  • Returned
  • Pros: Good sound quality & PNR.
  • Cons: Interferes with eye glasses, adjusting mic to accommodate drinking/eating causes headset & glasses to move, poor quality zipper

Comfortable Hearing
  • I am a commercial airline pilot flying the 737. Just bought the Pro Plus and am very happy with it. Very light weight, excellent noise cancellation, and no binding head band. The ear tips are very comfortable with a perfect fit. There are times I don't even know I have the headset on. I highly recommend this headset for any pilot, especially pilots who fly in loud cockpits, such as the Boeing 737!
Excellent Noise Reduction
  • I have only had this headset three weeks and I am very impressed with its noise reduction properties. It is just as quiet if not quieter than my Bose X. It is very comfortable with a hat and/or sunglasses. It is fairly easy to put on and isn't as fast as a standard headset but it doesn't take but an additional 10-15 seconds. I was concerned about how to get it on and off in an emergency descent situation (with the O2 mask having to be slapped on quickly). I did some tests in the airplane and found that you do not have to remove the headset at all. I just move the mic away from my mouth and the O2 mask goes right on with no interference from the headset. I am very pleased with that result. One thing I have noticed is that if it is freezing cold in the airplane and the headset has been "cold soaked," it takes a while for the foam ear tips to warm up and get soft. Sometimes, I have to put them in my ears as best as I can when they're cold and about 5 mins later, they are warm enough to re-insert with the ear tips being nice and soft (you get better noise cancelling). Sound quality of the microphone and radio reception is top-notch.
