Designed specifically for pilots, boaters, and other outdoor enthusiasts, the Bad Elf GPS Pro is the next generation of GPS Receiver and Dataloggers for the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad. Connect up to 5 supported devices at a time via Bluetooth!
You might think that an external GPS isn’t necessary when using your iPad in your plane. However, an external GPS is critical even if your iPad has the internal assisted GPS, because the assisted GPS uses cell towers to create its initial fix, whereas the Bad Elf GPS Pro uses satellites.
Perfect for Jet Pilots, General Aviation Pilots, or Road Trips
Real-time GPS data can be shared with the entire crew from a single GPS Pro sitting on the glareshield or in the side window. General aviation pilots can use iPhones or iPod touches as a backup for charts on your iPad and switch instantly without re-pairing or connecting. You can even share GPS data with passengers in the cabin or on road trips with the entire family. The Bad Elf GPS Pro is great for connecting up to 5 devices at a time!
Large LCD Screen with Backlight
The Bad Elf GPS Pro features a large LCD screen with a blacklight to provide great visibility day or night. Easily view your location, speed, heading, altitude, and GPS lock status at a glance. You won’t need to decode blinking LED indicators or leave your favorite app to check the status of your GPS receiver.
Extra-Long Battery Life and 10Hz Reporting Rate
The Bad Elf GPS Pro provides up to 16 hours of battery when connected to your iOS device via Bluetooth. The device also supports a GPS reporting rate of 10 times per second! If you put the accessory in standalone datalogger mode and turn off Bluetooth, you can even expect 32 hours of battery life.
Standalone GPS datalogger (100+ hours)
Record all your adventures without draining the battery of your iPhone or iPod touch! You don’t need to keep an app running, simply start and stop the GPS Pro’s datalogger with a simple button. If you discover something memorable, simply mark your current location as a point of interest (POI) with another button press. At the end of your activity you can transfer the log to your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to view your trip and share it through email, Facebook, or Twitter.
Rugged and Splash-Proof to IPX4 Standards
Take your Bad Elf GPS Pro on any adventure! Its compact size (3” x 2.5” x 0.7”), rugged exterior, and splash-proof resistance makes this GPS capable of surviving any journey- meanwhile allowing you to show your friends just how amazing the trip was.
Works with All Location-Based Apps
Since it meets all requirements under Apple’s MFi program, The Bad Elf GPS Pro works great with any location-based App from the App Store. To simplify your search for the best apps, the Apps that work well with the Bad Elf are categorized by your favorite activities and all major flight planning and aviation chart Apps have been tested with the device. Some of the supported apps include: Jeppesen Mobile FD, ForeFlight, WingX Pro7, i1000 Flight System, iChart, and Air Navigation Pro.
